My initial interest in green building was sparked at the same time as the formation of the New Zealand Green Building Council in 2007 and over the last 15 years I have gathered a cornucopia of green building accreditations including LEED, BREEAM, Green Star, Green Star NZ, Passive House and Homestar. All was well in my happy green building world until I started to realise (via my doctoral studies) that there was little actual proof that green buildings and green building rating tools were delivering buildings that would help save the world. This realisation proved to be a personal fork in the road and these days I am spending my time trying to share the knowledge that I have gathered over the last 15 years and continue to gather every day through both last years ‘365 no bullshit ways to save the world’ and this year’s ‘Live Better with Less’ series. I hope my posts will ferment open discussion in this space.
